I am back with a new Halloween printable for you! Whether you are wanting to trick or treat as a whole fam or just looking to hand out candy from a distance, these signs let little goblins know they can help themselves to a treat. I have provided two different posters with both options of "take one" for bigger treats or "take two" if you're doing fun size bars. If you do use one, tag me on Instagram with your porch set up @venturesinmotherhood!

I've got a free printable available for you to download and place out with your candy bowls tonight! If you're like us and are torn between handing out candy or trick-or-treating with your wee ones, now you don't have to choose! I printed mine on an 8.5"x11" piece of card stock, trimmed to size, and placed in a black frame to protect it from the elements. And how great is that mummy candy bowl I snagged from Homesense?
Happy Halloween!
My husband and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary last week so I thought I'd get all nostalgic and share some of the details from our big day. I wanted it to be a celebration of our love and the life we'd already been building together before we made it wedding official. I gathered ideas and inspiration on Pinterest and put together something best described as antique/rustic. I had so much fun planning and pulling together the little details of the day. It was fun, unique, and totally us.
Our Love Story
Our Wedding
It was very much a DIY wedding. I collected recycled glass jars of all sizes and used them for vases and candle holders. I enlisted my best gals to help me decorate them with lace, burlap, and string. Some I spray painted in an antique white. Our seating chart was hand-painted on a pair of antique windows. I collected an assortment of china patterns and used the plates for our supper, the side plates for dessert, and the teacups to serve coffee. I also crafted dessert stands from found platters and candle sticks.
My sister-in-law created all of our stationary, including the mad libs we had on the table for everyone to fill out. She and her husband own a printing company so she also helped me create the ceremony programs that I printed on paper bags and had my brother-in-law fill with popcorn for the wedding. I had a very talented friend draw our guest book tree that everyone signed and stamped with their finger prints; it's now hanging in our home. We purchased our florals from a local flower shop and my bridesmaids helped arrange them in all the little vases. I chose very wild looking flowers to match our rustic theme. I placed a pin from my childhood on my bouquet wrap and wore my late grandmother's pearls. We hired a string quartet to play at our ceremony. I had always dreamed of a full orchestra playing me down the aisle so that was the next best thing. They arranged two pieces for us including one by my husband's favourite band, Pearl Jam, for the signing of the marriage certificate. We cut thrifted lace table cloths into strips and tied them to the chairs and the railing outside the hall. We ditched the traditional wedding cake for an assortment of our favourite desserts. Instead, we had mini pies, macarons, and my favourite cookies from my mother-in-law. We also splurged on our midnight lunch and had a local food truck stop by with a custom menu of tacos, corn dogs, and sliders. Who doesn't want street food after a night of drinking and dancing? My daughter turned two at the end of March and I threw her a Safari Party to celebrate. Think animals in party hats. I've tried to choose a theme that summarizes her year and her love of animals was what inspired me for this one. I love throwing parties and all things crafty, so getting to put on these celebrations for my daughter is a joy. I use Pinterest to gather my ideas and then narrow it down to put it all together!
Invitation
Every great party needs a great invitation. I prefer to send invites the old fashioned way so I found these cute party animals to do the job.
Décor
I took plastic safari animals, spray-painted them gold, and made them little party hats. I placed them around the food table, in the window with party fans, and tied ballon bouquets to a couple to use as balloon weights. They were so easy to create and totally adorable. We have a beautiful older home and the windows all have sills so I take advantage of the kitchen window to create a party backdrop. This year I used party fans and balloons.
Sweet Treats
I made two different kinds of cupcakes: chocolate with chocolate buttercream, and vanilla with whipped cream cheese icing. I decided to do cupcakes again this year for easier serving and to save myself some time. Plus, I love a good cupcake display. I had these perfect animal print cupcake wrappers that were gifted to me at my bridal shower.
Fun & Games
How do you occupy a bunch of toddlers? With a safari playdough invitation, of course! I set out a divided tray I thrifted with a ball of green homemade playdough in the middle and a variety of loose pieces for them to explore. I chose large stones, pieces of fake grass, fake plants, and a few wild animals. We also have a great playroom on our main floor that kept the kids busy.
Party Favours
I despise receiving useless junk, so when it comes to favours I either choose something that guests can use or I skip altogether. This year I made jars of homemade playdough for all the kiddies to take home with them. I spray-painted the lids and some tiny plastic animals to adorn the tops. I also created little 'thank you' tags to tie around the neck. If I had a do-over, I would pick different colours. But paint selection aside, this was one of my favourite details.
These first two birthdays, I allowed myself to go all out and plan elaborate affairs. After this, I'll consult her on the plans and keep it pretty minimal. Either way, I just love celebrating my favourite gal! What were some of your favourite details from this party?
